Membership benefits

Sandhill Lane is a private road and under the Highways Act 1980, upkeep is the joint responsibility of its Frontagers not the Local Authority. The Residents Association collects annual contributions from the Frontagers to enable that maintenance programme to be carried out.

As a Member, residents can also voice their opinions about Lane matters, receive updates on progress to deliver the agreed aims and objectives and enjoy the protection of a collective third party liability insurance policy.

We listen to our Members and take collective action in order to keep our Lane an enjoyable place to live - for all of us.

Have your say

Only Members have the opportunity to raise concerns about threats to the existing character of the Lane.

Worried about the risk of large housing development destroying the amenity of Sandhill Lane? A collective voice is more powerful.

Website & Newsletters

Receive regular updates on the work of the Association through our email newsletters.

As a Member you will also have access to the Members Area on our website. This will give you easy access to planning applications that may change the character of our Lane.

As a Member you'll also be able to find out about our community projects to help our neighbours, such as ditch maintenance working parties.

Liability Insurance

The Association provides its Members with collective cover for unforeseeable indemnity claims, such as third party injury to members of the public using the Lane, where legal liability could be the responsibility of the residents.

Non-Members would be well-advised to take out their own insurance cover at their personal expense - don't assume your house insurance will cover you on land (the Lane) which you don't own but do have legal responsibility for as a Frontager.

Influence YOUR Association

All Members have the right to:

  • Attend the Association's meetings

  • Vote on important decisions

  • Elect the Committee who represent you

  • Influence how Members' contributions are spent

  • Help prioritise road repairs

Be represented

Have your voice heard by relevant Authorities!

The Association speaks on behalf of all Members - we are prepared to raise planning concerns with the Council and liaising with developers and utilities companies when required.

We will also raise issues of trespass, nuisance and antisocial behaviour to the Police and can take legal action to protect collective Members' interests.

House values

If we just sit by and allow others to force change on the character of the lane forever, the value of our homes will most likely be affected.  The "premium" to live in a private road with limited traffic, wild deer in our gardens and being surrounded by open fields will seem far less attractive to people considering a move to the lane in future.
